As women, we often compare our bodies to others – a habit that can put a dent in self-esteem because you feel like you don’t measure up. Envy is highly demotivating and particularly unhelpful when trying to psyche yourself up to exercise or lose weight. While you can’t avoid seeing people who are fitter than you, you can turn your observations into a positive. Say you have a friend who works out and has sculpted muscles to show for it; ask her how she finds the time and what her routine is. Learning from others will empower you to become the best version of yourself you can be. – Ellen McGrath, PhD
