The eyes are the window to the soul so work them, baby!
One of the most common things Nicole Thompson, Australia’s Senior M.A.C Cosmetics Artist, hears from women getting their makeup done is, “Can you give me smokey eyes? I can never do them properly myself.” Well, here's the “how to” from Thompson herself on getting that look, with a little sparkly twist:
- Applying a base is very important when doing any kind of smokey eye. It gives the eyeshadow something to adhere to, helps it last longer and increase the colour intensity.
- Use a kohl pencil to line the eyes completely, making sure to use a fair amount of product
for strong lines. M.A.C Smoulder Eye Kohl ($32) is perfect for this as the crayon texture is really easy to blend and it is the blackest black around.
- Smudge the line with a soft brush. Blend slowly and lightly up to the socket line, keeping a
soft edge.
Using the same brush, press on the high-impact eyeshadow M.A.C Black Tied Eyeshadow ($32), a strong black with some hot flickers of silver shimmer particles that will make your smokey eyes stand out.
- Line the water line of the eyes (top and bottom) with the eyeshadow to add some extra depth and sexiness… and voila, perfect peepers.
